TEXT:
History holds immense significance in our daily lives, continually reminding us of its power to shape our identities and the societies we inhabit, be it within the context of a family, nation, culture, religion, or any other historically constituted community. Our comprehension of history fundamentally influences our present worldview, shaping our perceptions of reality and our projections for the future. Thus, a nuanced understanding of history's impact on both the present and future is crucial for meaningful engagement with the world around us.
"V.I.D." endeavors to compile an unbiased chronicle of pivotal events that have indelibly shaped world history. This collection highlights the most influential occurrences that have fundamentally altered the course of human existence. These historical junctures signify profound shifts in our modes of living, working, thinking, and perceiving others.
While many more moments could be cited, these 15 events stand out as turning points after which nothing remained unchanged. Despite most of these events being known to the public primarily through historical records rather than direct experience, the materials and patterns used in these works are intentionally chosen to be recognizable, ensuring that each viewer can relate to at least one of them.
Through this deliberate association, I seek to offer participants an indirect yet profound experience. The aim is to evoke emotions that resonate within the mental and affective realms of the viewer, thereby emphasizing these historical elements. By transferring the experience of recognizing tangible elements to individual identification with a specific event, I try to employ recognizable triggers to facilitate this connection, enhancing the viewer's personal engagement with history.
